Appointments and Costs

Here, we review the cost of appointments, the cost of supplements, and insurance coverage.

Pre-Appointment Process

Before Dr. Isaacs agrees to schedule initial appointments, she wants to know more about your condition and your medical problems, and so we ask that you send the details of your situation to the office (click here for step-by-step instructions). Dr. Isaacs will then personally review this material. She does not charge for her time reviewing your case.

Initial Appointments

There are two appointments, which may be scheduled on two consecutive days.

The Total Fee for the initial evaluation (covering both sessions) is $4600. This also covers the time needed to design the nutritional plan. The fee does not include the costs of any required blood tests; usually, no additional tests are needed as patients are encouraged to provide their medical records.

Rather than having a membership model, as some practitioners do, we have worked the cost of follow-up conversations into the initial fee and we encourage patients to call with questions and problems. Dr. Isaacs returns all calls from current patients herself.

Follow-up Appointments

We find, for optimal results, patients must be periodically re-evaluated. Over time, a patient's dietary and supplement needs may change. Therefore we require all patients to return periodically (every 6 to 12 months, depending on need) for a re-assessment of their nutritional status. At this appointment, the doctor will provide the patient with a new supplement program. The cost for the evaluation is $1000. the session lasts from 60-90 minutes. Again, the cost of follow-up conversations are worked into this fee.

Cost of Supplements

The supplements are available from a mail order source, Fullscript, or from the companies themselves. Dr. Isaacs uses supplements from companies such as Professional Formulas, Biotics Research, Standard Process, Life Extension, and Carlson. Patients are welcome to buy supplements through whatever route they wish as long as the product name and brand is the same.

The cost per month varies from patient to patient, but will run about $1200 per month for a cancer patient, considerably less for patients with other types of illnesses. Initial costs may be higher, as some supplements come in amounts that might last for more than one month.

Insurance Coverage

Due to the alternative nature of this treatment approach, many insurance companies, including Medicare and Medicaid, will not reimburse for any part of the services. Dr. Isaacs does not participate in any health insurance plan, and has chosen to opt out of Medicare.

After their appointments, patients are given forms which they can submit to their insurance companies. For information on whether these expenses can be reimbursed via a health savings account, or deducted on tax returns, speak to the plan administrators or to a financial advisor or accountant.

Referrals

We are frequently asked for referrals to other practitioners who might offer the same nutritional approach. The therapy Dr. Isaacs offers is available only in her office, and she does not endorse any other practitioner, protocol, or supplement line. Click here for more on this subject.
