Here are some tips that don't fit into the other categories.
Epley Maneuver
This procedure can be helpful for positional vertigo, but it is impossible to describe. This video is the best explanation and demonstration I have seen. A variant on this procedure, which would be easier to do by yourself, is shown here.
Pineapple Honey Cough Syrup
A 2020 review article concluded that honey is useful for relief of symptoms caused by upper respiratory tract infections. Use your common sense and see a doctor if a cough persists. Do not give to infants or small children without discussing with a pediatrician.
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 1 piece of ginger (approx. 3 inches)
- 1 tablespoon raw honey
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
All ingredients should be organic. Combine all ingredients in a blender, process until smooth. Drink a quarter cup three times daily as needed.
Straw Technique for Vocal Strain
This technique involves blowing bubbles in a glass of water with a straw. There are many how-to videos for this on YouTube, with discussions of why it is helpful; this one was easy to follow. A speech therapist told Dr. Isaacs that doing this for three minutes, ideally several times a day, would help the vocal cords relax and reduce inflammation.
